The answer to the question best to ever not reach a Brier is Gary Ross. Lost 6 Manitoba provincial finals, several heartbreakers. He finally won a Canadian Seniors in 2001.

There we go! I knew someone from a different generation and probably from Manitoba would be the right answer.

ANY generation from Manitoba knows the answer to this question ;). Those from Saskatchewan might argue Merv Mann, but my guess is it's not much of a debate. Ontario was John Base and Mike Harris for a time, then they combined forces got their purple hearts in 2004
